Meet the Maker
Our candle company began as a fun project to create our own candles. My daughter received a gift of a soy candle and she absolutely loved it. So I did a little research and decided it might be fun to try and make our own. I bought a candle making kit - and that was it! I fell in love with the creative process and the science of candle making.
The inspiration behind our company name and logo comes from believing in the strength of family, the people in your life who make you feel “at home” and love you unconditionally , may it be your blood family or your found family. Bears and the folklore surrounding them have always been a central theme for us representing Strength, Independence, Courage and Protection.
With our busy life, our little family loves to recharge in nature and breathe in the clear mountain air in northern New England. And who doesn’t love a yummy baked treat at the end of a beautiful day out of doors.
Our scents are reminiscent of our favorite things:
Home during the holidays, Fresh baked goods, Apple picking, Leaf peeping in the fall
Crisp winter days, Hot cocoa/spiced chai, Fresh spring flowers
Cozy rainy days wrapped in blankets by the fire
Our candles are made in small batches to ensure quality. We use 100% soy wax, cotton lead free wicks, and phthalate free fragrance oils.

Shipping Policy
Shipment processing time
Orders are processed and shipped in 1-3 days after the order was received. Excluding weekends and holidays.
Shipping speed is determined by the postage that you choose at checkout, and is determined by the US postal service.
Delivery times are estimates provided by the US postal service and not in my control - they start when accepted at the post office, not when order is placed.
All postal delays are out of my control and can't be predicted.
Exception for summer heat - Orders will only ship Monday through Wednesday . This way candles are not sitting in hot trucks over the weekend. We highly suggest that you have someone home to receive deliveries so the packages are not sitting out in the heat. Due to the risk involved when ordering candles during hot months, we cannot be held liable for melted candles and other wax products. Even though we insure all of our shipments, melted wax is not covered by USPS
You will receive a shipment confirmation email and tracking #, the tracking # is active in 24 hours.
Incorrect Shipping Addresses and Refused Delivery
We make every attempt to validate the shipping address provided at checkout to ensure it’s recognized as a valid address by the USPS. If we cannot validate the address, we will try to contact the customer to provide an updated address. If we cannot update the address, the order will be canceled and refunded.
Bear Family Candles will not be responsible if the customer provides the wrong shipping address and we cannot recover the package.
Return Policy
Any returns must be approved before you send them back, please contact us within 48 hours of package delivery if you have a problem with your order.
The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping unless the problem is a physical defect that wasn't detected when the order was sent.
Damaged package/product: To verify damage I need to get photos of the item and the packaging so that we can potentially file a claim with the post office. Send us an email and once approved we will send an RA # for the approved return
All returns must be sent back within 5 business days of our agreement of the return.
Damage caused by the customer will not be considered as a reason for a product return.
If an item shipped with free shipping, the actual post office cost of the original shipping may be held back from any refunds issued. Except in the case of items that were received damaged. To verify damage We need to get photos of the item and the packaging so that We can potentially file a claim with the post office.
In cases where a package was delivered to your address but you can't find it, We are unable to refund. You should contact your local Post Office to report a stolen package.
If the package wasn't delivered and the tracking doesn't show that it was received, please contact us.
Safety / burning instructions:
Care and proper use policy
By purchasing our products you agree to follow the candle and/or wax melt care instructions located on the care card included in your shipment and on this shop.
Each candle or wax melt comes with a care card and warning/instruction label on the product. Please read these instructions carefully.
Candles:
Safety instructions: Never extinguish with water!
Never leave a burning candle unattended
Burn your candle on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects
Keep free from foreign objects and wick trimmings.
Keep out of reach of children and pets
Burning instructions:
Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before every burn to keep the wax clean and burning nicely.
Avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4 hours is recommended.
Allow the candle to melt to the edge of the vessel. This prevents future tunneling.
Stop use when only 1/4" inch of wax remains
Wax Melts: Do Not Eat!
To prevent fire or injury:
Remove from packaging before use. Use only in tea-light warmers or UL listed electric warmers approved for wax melts. Read and follow all instructions provided with your warmer before use. Do not leave the melter unattended while in use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Melting instructions:
Do NOT add water. Do NOT melt on stove top or in non-approved appliances. Use only in well ventilated areas away from flammable materials. Discontinue use if the dish on a tea-light or electric warmer contains less than 1/2" of wax.
